A shocking incident involving Fairwater FC’s children’s coach, Casey Warren, has left his family and community reeling. During a heated, alcohol-fueled argument, Warren violently attacked his partner of 20 years, strangling her in front of their son. When the son attempted to intervene, Warren turned on him with a broken wine glass, resulting in a serious injury to the boy’s arm.

This terrifying event unfolded after a night out, when the victim confronted Warren over his communication with other women. What happened next was described as a “blur” as emotions and violence escalated. The son, alarmed by the situation, desperately tried to protect his mother but found himself under threat.

The court heard from the victim, who spoke about the immense emotional toll of living with such abuse and the struggle with depression that followed. Despite Warren’s past contributions to the community through football coaching, this incident has cast a shadow over his previous good deeds.
Judge Jeremy Jenkins, presiding over the case, delivered a strong message against domestic violence, emphasising its cowardly nature. Warren’s sentence includes 21 months of suspended imprisonment, a requirement to participate in the Building Better Relationships programme, and 120 hours of unpaid work. He is also subject to a restraining order.
