In a shocking incident at Drinkwater Park, Prestwich, professional dog walker Mary Doig, known as Frankie, claims she was ‘run over’ by a quad bike after asking the rider to slow down. While walking three dogs, Frankie encountered a group with a quad bike and motorbike. Concerned for her dogs, she requested they ride more carefully, but instead, one rider allegedly shouted back and drove over her legs!

Shaken and in tears, Frankie called the police from the spot near the Buckley Lane entrance. Her injuries luckily amounted to cuts and bruises, with her loyal canine companions rallying around her. “I was so shocked, in pain, and honestly, terrified. It’s unfathomable that someone would actually do that,” she revealed.

Even more frustrating for Frankie, though, is learning that the authorities have closed the case due to lack of evidence. The quad bike wasn’t registered, and since no footage of the incident was captured, the investigation hit a dead end, much to her dismay.
Frankie shared her thoughts on the incident being recorded as a traffic offence rather than an assault, raising questions about safety in areas frequented by families and dog walkers. Despite a written apology from a police officer, Frankie states it’s not the outcome she hoped for, leaving her and many others concerned about the safety of Drinkwater Park for leisurely strolls. Here’s hoping for some newfound respect for shared public spaces!
