In a tense encounter on the streets of Newport, 55-year-old Brian Armstrong threatened his own son, Lee Bowen, saying he’d “stab him up”, before waving a kitchen knife over his head. The drama unfolded after Armstrong had a falling out with his family, leaving a series of aggressive voicemails for his son, daring him to confront him.

On August 30, 2023, after sending multiple threatening messages, Armstrong confronted his son on Commercial Street, kicking his car and lunging at him before brandishing a knife. Fortunately, Bowen managed to escape unharmed with his partner and sister, but not before feeling the real threat of danger from his own father. The police soon arrived, discovering the knife in Armstrong’s possession upon arrest.
