🔍 Exciting news for Swansea! The historic Mond Buildings, dating back to 1911, are set to get a fabulous makeover! 🏛️
What’s the scoop? Plans are in motion to breathe new life into this grand old building in the heart of Swansea’s bustling city centre. The proposal is to transform the ground floor into a chic café and bakery, while the first floor will house three fantastic flats. And guess what? The second-floor dance hall will continue to delight as a “place of assembly.”
The building is revered for its stunning Edwardian Baroque style, with its elegant Portland stone exterior making it a true architectural gem. It’s perfectly placed on Union Street, marking the start of the lively stretch down to the market – think of the foot traffic for the new café! ☕🥐
The heritage impact statement highlights how this development will enhance our urban landscape, offering Swansea a vibrant retail experience and stylish living spaces in a beautifully revamped historical building. The Swansea council’s planning department will now consider the application.
