Kevin Sinfield is set to finish his incredible “7 in 7” ultramarathon challenge this Sunday, but nothing could prepare us for the emotional wave surrounding his journey. Sinfield honours his late friend and former teammate Rob Burrow, who sadly passed away in 2024 due to motor neurone disease (MND).

Their friendship began in the Leeds Rhinos academy and blossomed into a powerhouse duo, leaving an unforgettable legacy with seven Super League titles. Kevin’s running to raise funds for MND charities has generated over £10 million, absolutely smashing the initial target of £777,777. It’s all in memory of Rob, who donned the No. 7 jersey with so much grace and grit.

Kevin’s on-stage candour during ‘The Extra Mile’ speaking tour has moved many. He fondly shared his final moments with Rob, recalling how he walked into the room to see Rob’s beaming smile. “It was like he was joking; had the biggest smile off him,” Kevin shared as he fought back tears, remembering their bond and shared moments.

Rob found humour in Kevin’s fundraising efforts, teasing him about braving the cold while he stayed cosy at home. That humour, Kevin insists, speaks volumes of Rob’s warmth and spirit, ever-present even in the face of adversity. As the ultramarathon’s final leg brings Kevin back to Headingley, it’s a homecoming that speaks to the heart of their shared journey.
Kevin’s commitment remains undeterred as he continues to run, driven by cherished memories and the need to spotlight MND. His dedication doesn’t just mark miles but celebrates an incredible friendship and a promise to keep Rob’s spirit alive. Keep running, Kevin—you’re truly inspiring! 💙🏃♂️ #KevinSinfield #RobBurrow #RunForMND #FriendshipGoals
