🌟 Big congratulations to Welsh TV presenter Ruth Dodsworth, who has been honoured with an OBE from King Charles III at Windsor Castle! At 50, Ruth has passionately advocated for victims and survivors of domestic abuse, drawing from her own harrowing experiences.

Ruth’s story is one of resilience and courage. Her ex-husband’s coercive control lasted nine years, a nightmare from which she finally broke free when her children stepped in for her safety. Since then, Ruth has bravely used her platform to spread awareness, even presenting the documentary “Controlled By My Partner? The Hidden Abuse” which shed light on the insidious nature of such mistreatment.

Ruth’s words upon receiving her honour were touching, “This is for every single person who held my hand on this journey.” She is committed to continuing her fight, stating, “I promised to use it wisely and keep talking about domestic abuse until hopefully, we won’t have to.” She firmly believes that raising awareness can save lives, offering hope and encouragement to many.
Her daughter, Grace, has spoken out too, recalling how their past life seemed ‘normal’ until the intervention of professionals revealed the truth. It’s a powerful reminder of the reality many face in silence.
Ruth’s journey and recognition serve as an inspiration to many who feel trapped and alone. Her work illustrates that healing and recognition are possible, and that speaking out can pave the way to recovery and change.
Let’s celebrate Ruth’s bravery and commitment to making a difference. 👏✨ #Inspiration #DomesticAbuseAwareness #RuthDodsworthOBE
