A shocking incident unfolded in Llanelli as two men were sentenced for attacking one man and robbing a woman. Jake Dighton, 32, and Daniel Merriman, 33, both from Llanelli, found themselves in court after an altercation in a local park. It all started with a heated phone call between Alisha Thomas and her ex, Dighton, over her outfit. Her new partner, Lee Ayre, was viciously attacked by Merriman and Dighton, leaving Lee injured and shaken. A brave friend, Mr Fennel, tried to intervene but ended up getting hit on the head with a pint glass.

But the trouble didn’t stop there. Just days later, Dighton targeted a woman, Natasha Morgan, snatching her bag with such force that the strap ripped off, leaving her feeling traumatised.

The courtroom heard emotional accounts of how these incidents have affected the victims. Natasha confessed she has been left feeling violated and wary of walking alone at night. The assault on Lee Ayre was equally brutal. Both attackers had troubling pasts, with histories of drug use and brushes with the law.
Dighton, who has previous convictions, received a four and a half-year sentence for multiple offences, including robbery and assault. Meanwhile, Merriman received a six-month sentence to be served consecutively to his current one.
The judge didn’t mince words, highlighting how such incidents impact community safety and women’s freedom to feel secure in public spaces. This case is a stark reminder of the real consequences of violence and robbery on everyday lives.
