💔 A Heartbreaking Holiday: Mum’s Tragic Passing Highlights Hidden Dangers 💔

A family’s joyous holiday on the Isle of Wight turned into a nightmare after Paulette Crookes, celebrating her 70th birthday, contracted legionella from a hot tub and passed away. Her daughter, Denise, recounts the “horrific” ordeal of losing her mother just weeks after the celebration. Initially filled with excitement, the family’s world shattered by the end of their trip.

During their stay, relatives noticed the hot tub’s water was cloudy and foul-smelling—a warning sign they never expected to lead to such tragedy. Despite their concerns, no staff were reported to have checked the tub. As Paulette’s health deteriorated rapidly with pneumonia, rashes, dizziness, and vomiting, she was eventually hospitalised and slipped into an induced coma. Sadly, despite medical efforts, Paulette suffered a stroke, a heart attack, and passed away on March 8th.
This week’s inquest concluded that Paulette’s death was directly linked to legionella contracted from the hot tub. Denise expressed some relief, knowing her family’s suspicions were right all along, after a long wait for answers. “It was important to get the truth out,” Denise reflects, expressing hope that her mum’s story will heighten awareness about the dangers of poorly maintained hot tubs.
Paulette, described as the “heart and soul” of her family, leaves behind treasured memories as a devoted mum and grandma who never missed a chance to celebrate life’s little moments. Denise mentions their struggle with grief, especially facing the first Christmas without Paulette.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the dangers lurking in unexpected places. Stay informed and ensure safety checks to protect you and your loved ones.
