A devastating explosion and fire rocked the small village of Nelson this past Friday night, tragically claiming the lives of two individuals. Witnesses described smoke billowing from a property on Heol Fawr shortly after 6pm, prompting a rapid response from emergency services. Despite the swift action, the fire severely affected the two-storey home and left a toxic smell in the air, according to locals.

The tragedy has left the village in mourning, with community councillor Eifion ap Llwyd Dafydd describing the atmosphere as “solemn and very sad.” Those in the area noted the road is still closed, and forensic teams are continuing their investigation into the cause of the explosion and subsequent fire.

The nearby Tylers Arms pub has had to close its doors temporarily as police carry out their work next door. The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service expressed their sorrow over the loss and assured the public that meticulous investigations are underway to determine how this incident unfolded. Specialist teams are assessing structural safety and ensuring the site is secure.
