Last night, a fire wreaked havoc on Partridge Street, leaving the historic Old Post Office building charred and blackened. The emergency services were out in full force as the South Wales Fire and Rescue teams battled the blaze into the night. 🚒👨🚒
Locals were first awakened just before 10 PM on Sunday as smoke and flames filled the air. Firefighters from Tonypandy, Treorchy, and Ferndale rushed to the scene, skilfully containing the fire after two hours of intense effort.
Major roads in the area were closed while fire crews tackled the blaze, with closures affecting Partridge Street in both directions, as well as parts of Church Road and Llanfoist Street. Traffic is now partially flowing, but a safety cordon remains while investigations continue. 🚧
What a night! Stay tuned as we get to the bottom of what caused this destructive fire. We’re thankful to all the brave firefighters who worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
