Heartbreaking News: The family of Sophie Hunt, a vibrant 34-year-old mother of two from Northampton, is grappling with her tragic passing following a cosmetic surgery procedure in Turkey last year. On March 9, 2022, Sophie sadly passed away at Avrupa Safak Hospital in Istanbul, just two days after undergoing a tummy tuck and Brazilian butt lift.

At a recent inquest, Sophie’s loved ones elaborated their concerns, sharing that they believe she wasn’t fit enough for the surgery. Hospital records indicated some troubling ECG readings, hinting that her heart may not have been in ideal condition. Her mother, Sandra Hunt, voiced these fears, suggesting Sophie’s post-op complications could be linked to the surgery.
The inquest painted a distressing picture: Sophie suffered multiple organ failure and experienced three cardiac arrests. Although resuscitated briefly during transport to a specialised hospital, she tragically couldn’t pull through.

Turkey’s investigation concluded that complications from the surgical procedures contributed significantly to her untimely death. A post-mortem carried out in the UK by Professor Kevin West echoed these findings, though he noted the exact cause of her cardiac complications remains unclear.
Sophie was lovingly described by her family as outgoing, bubbly, and exceptionally kind. A dedicated chef, she had a passion for cooking and music—traits that are deeply missed by those who knew her. This serves as a stark reminder for anyone considering cosmetic procedures abroad to be aware of the risks and ensure they’re in optimal health before undergoing operations. Our hearts go out to her family during this incredibly difficult time.
