🎄🚨 Festive Season brings SOARING police activity in Newport! 🚔✨
This holiday season, Newport is seeing a noticeable uptick in police presence. Over the past month, officers have arrested nine individuals and confiscated a significant number of illegal substances. 📉 But hold on, there’s good news — shoplifting in the city centre is down by 3.4%, and violence with injury offences have dropped by 10.9%! 🙌
Working under the City Safe initiative, the police are collaborating with local partners to ensure public safety. Night-time patrols have been active, especially on weekends, to keep both residents and visitors safe. From cracking down on retail theft to addressing anti-social behaviour, every effort is being made to maintain a joyous and secure festive period. 🌟
Partnerships with the Newport Community Safety Partnership and local businesses are helping tackle issues like street drinking and the misuse of e-scooters. Plus, collaboration through the Newport City Centre PubWatch scheme ensures a safer night out for all! 🍹🚴
Chief Superintendent Jason White assures everyone that these efforts are about creating a safer and better Newport: “Our tailored patrols and operations continue to tackle seasonal crimes.”
Don’t hesitate to report any suspicious activities by visiting the Gwent Police website or by calling 101. In cases of emergency, always dial 999. Let’s keep this festive season joyful and secure! 🎅🛍️ #Newport #SafetyFirst #FestiveSeasonSecurity
