🚨 Big News in Welsh Rugby! 🚨

Dewi Lake, star hooker for Wales and Ospreys, has revealed he’s taking his talents to Gloucester next season. This move comes amid the swirling uncertainties surrounding the future of Welsh rugby. 🏉

Lake shared on the SportIn Wales podcast that the decision wasn’t easy. “When you consider the off-field issues and the lack of clarity about our future as a region, there’s not much stability,” Lake explained. “It’s tough to leave, but securing my future is essential.”

Both Lake and Jac Morgan’s departure is a massive hit for Ospreys and the Welsh Rugby Union. Fans, however, seem to understand their choices in light of the current situation. Lake noted that while he’s had discussions about staying, the ongoing uncertainty made staying difficult.
The issues stem from an earlier announcement by the Welsh Rugby Union, suggesting a reduction from four to three teams, casting a shadow over Ospreys and Scarlets. “It’s a tough position to be in,” Lake said, adding that contract talks were more with Ospreys than the WRU. “They’re not sure of their situation next year either.”
Lake expressed that leaving the club he started with is bittersweet. “The staff, the boys, the coaches… leaving them is the hardest part. And the fans have been incredible.”
The WRU hopes to settle on a plan by year’s end to streamline to three teams, but that remains uncertain. If no decision is reached, expect a tender process in the New Year.
