Former Soccer Team Leader Sentenced for Harassment Towards Women and Incarcerated

Former Swansea football club chairman, Nicholas O’Connor, has been sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences. Swansea Crown Court heard how the 35-year-old, who was previously chairman of Plough Colts FC, engaged in a disturbing pattern of behaviour by exposing himself and sexually assaulting women across various locations in South Wales during 2024.

The offences took place in places such as wedding venues, shops, sports venues, and even car parks. Judge Huw Rees labelled O’Connor a “sexual nuisance to women,” highlighting his “purposeful, deviant sexual conduct.” Despite maintaining his innocence, the evidence against O’Connor was overwhelming, leading to his conviction on 12 counts of sexual assault, attempted assault, and exposure.

O’Connor claimed his actions were misunderstood due to an ongoing medical issue, but the court dismissed this explanation. His conviction marks a significant fall from grace for the former football head, who will be subject to the sex offenders register for the next decade.
