Who says you can’t mix a bit of holiday spirit with rigorous training? The Welsh Guards recently swapped their serious faces for festive fashions during their annual Christmas fitness session. Imagine a battalion of disciplined soldiers dressed as Santa, elves, or even the Grinch, all set for a day of morale-boosting fun and fierce competition.
Gracing a cold December with vibrant jumpers and Santa hats, the spirit was as high as their fitness levels. The session kicked off with a Grinch on a motorbike riding around the camp. Spotting the mischievous green guest set off a whirlwind chase in full holiday attire! As if that wasn’t enough, the Guards faced a second challenge: constructing sleighs from parts hidden around the camp. With a clock ticking and rivalry in the air, Support Company emerged victorious. 👏
Fancy dress fitness isn’t confined to the Christmas season; it’s a longstanding tradition among the Welsh Guards. Past sessions took place in London and even overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, proving that a little humour goes a long way in keeping spirits high, no matter the location or occasion.
Even though no prizes were given for the most outrageous outfit, the Guards took the challenge to heart. The more outlandish the costume, the better! While physically demanding, the event blends laughter, camaraderie, and competition, making it a December highlight.
