🚨 Shocking Crime Alert! 🚨
A 35-year-old man has admitted to a brazen robbery in Rhayader, Powys, where he attacked a 79-year-old homeowner and stole his prized £35,000 vintage car. This shocking event unfolded on November 18th when a masked man grabbed the elderly gentleman outside his home, demanding the keys to his cherished Morgan Plus 4 classic sports car.
But the audacity didn’t end there! The thief, identified as Ben Owen from Oldbury, West Midlands, called the victim again with a chilling ultimatum: pay up to get your own car back or see it dismantled for parts! 😱
Quick to respond, police launched a massive manhunt, dispatching officers with a K9 unit. By 3:30 am, the classic car was discovered abandoned in St Harmon. Meanwhile, eagle-eyed officers spotted a figure hiding under a tree. A dramatic chase ensued, leading to Owen’s arrest. He now faces multiple charges including robbery and drug possession.
Justice has been served as Owen admitted to all charges at Mold Crown Court and is set to be sentenced in January 2026. One more accomplice, a 55-year-old, was held but later released without further action.
A heroic effort by Dyfed-Powys Police brought closure to this frightening ordeal. DS Adam Clark praised the swift and decisive police actions that ensured this ruthless criminal is brought to justice.
Stay safe, everyone! Let’s keep vigilant against crime in our communities. 🛡️
