🌟 Exciting News from Cardiff! 🌟
Cardiff Council is on the hunt for a new operator for the beloved Cardiff Riding School, nestled in the beautiful Pontcanna Fields. Established nearly 50 years ago, this treasured equestrian centre has been a hub for horse lovers of all ages and abilities, with over 40,000 visitors last year alone!
Facing financial hurdles, the council has decided to look for fresh management. This move aims to ensure the long-term sustainability of our cherished riding school. While it might be Wales’ only council-run equestrian spot, it’s clear the community feels strongly about keeping it going. In fact, a recent consultation revealed 76% of participants back the idea of a new operator stepping in.
The centre boasts a sprawling 12 hectares, complete with indoor and outdoor arenas, 39 stables, and even spaces for group lessons and dressage competitions. Plus, it’s home to 43 beautiful horses, offering riding experiences for everyone, from newbies to seasoned pros.
While some councillors noted the significant investments needed—over £380,000 for infrastructure—the hope is that this transition will pave the way for much-needed improvements and innovation.
Stay tuned for more updates as this procurement journey begins. Let’s rally together to support this fantastic facility and ensure it remains a cornerstone of our community! 🐴💫
