Three notorious shoplifters in Barry and Talbot Green were given an unexpected holiday stayβin jail! Matthew Moore, Matthew Hatherill, and Jamie Colburn were nabbed by vigilant local police after a series of thefts that hit shops like Boots and TK Maxx.

It started on December 15 when Moore and Hatherill were caught on CCTV stealing from Boots pharmacy. Just three days later, during a focused βday of action,β police arrested the duo and linked them to multiple other thefts in the area.

π₯ Moore, facing five theft charges, got a 26-week sentence. Hatherill, with three thefts, was handed eight weeks. Not to be left out, Colburn was caught thanks to an eagle-eyed officer on December 22, leading to his arrest for three shoplifting charges and earning him a 20-week stint.
This crackdown was part of the “Winter of Action” initiative, aiming to make the community safer through proactive policing. Inspector Huw Tyler praised the local officers’ hard work, ensuring businesses and residents feel secure. ποΈ
