A shocking story of bravery and resilience: Carl Thomas, previously jailed for a brutal attack on his then-girlfriend that broke her eye socket, has resurfaced in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Upon release, Thomas, from Maesgeirchen in Bangor, harassed and tried to control his ex-partner yet again, leaving her living in fear. Despite the frightening ordeal, she bravely stood up against him.

Initially imprisoned for a 14-month stint last February after a violent assault, Thomas didn’t stop there. After his release, he allegedly rummaged through her personal items and called her workplace, attempting to keep tabs on her. The tipping point came when he turned up at her home, intoxicated, raising his fist in a threatening manner. Thankfully, she managed to push him out and end this terrifying encounter.
Bringing him to justice once more, Thomas appeared in Llandudno magistrates’ court where he admitted to assault and controlling behaviour. He now faces another year behind bars and has been handed a six-year restraining order for the safety of his victim.

Detective Sergeant Geraint Jones highlights the courage of the victim, commending her for speaking out despite the distressing experiences she endured. He urges anyone facing similar issues to seek support.
