Get ready, football fans! Liverpool is kicking off their 2026 season with an exciting match against Leeds United on New Year’s Day. The Reds have their eye on solidifying their top-four status in the Premier League, especially after seeing Chelsea and Manchester United drop points. Aston Villa also faced a rare defeat this week, giving Liverpool a chance to widen their lead if they secure a win at Anfield.
Liverpool’s been in top form, riding a four-game winning streak under manager Arne Slot. They’re looking to extend that success and add to their points tally following a thrilling 3-3 draw at Elland Road last month. But beating Leeds won’t be easy; the Yorkshire side has been undefeated since November and has taken nine points from their last five games.
For Leeds, their recent strong performances have bolstered their fight against relegation, including grabbing points at Brentford and Sunderland. However, the Reds have an ace up their sleeve with Dominik Szoboszlai back from suspension, ready to make an impact against the visitors. Meanwhile, Conor Bradley and Cody Gakpo are sneaking back into the scene after injuries, while Mohamed Salah is still away chasing glory at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Match Details:
– Kick-off at 5:30 PM at Anfield
– Watch live on Sky Sports Premier League or stream it with Sky Go if you’re on the move.
Leeds might be missing some key players, with Joe Rodon, Daniel James, and Sean Longstaff unlikely to feature due to injuries. So, can Liverpool start the year off with a bang? Make sure you’re tuned in to catch all the action!
