🏉 Former Wales scrum-half legend Mike Phillips recently got emotional, sharing his deepest regret on a new S4C programme. Phillips, known for his fiery play on the field, opened up about a drink-driving incident in 2024 that left him “massively” disappointed with himself.
😢 In an episode of “Y Cyfweliad” (The Interview), he talked candidly about the heart-wrenching moment he had to confess to his parents. Imagine feeling shame like that! Phillips admitted to being three times over the legal limit when arrested in Llanwrtyd Wells. The legal consequences? A 25-month driving ban and a hefty fine.
✨ This brave revelation speaks to the importance of learning from our mistakes and the emotional toll it can have—wow, it’s quite something to hear! Phillips also reflected on his upbringing in west Wales, his life in Dubai, and shared his thoughts on the current state of Welsh rugby. According to him, while our national team’s success might not always be consistent, their spirit represents us all and boosts national pride.
🎶 The episode wraps up with a moving rendition of “Calon Lân” and will be available on S4C, S4C Clic, and BBC iPlayer on 6 January at 9pm. Phillips joins a line-up featuring Welsh stars like Bronwen Lewis and Elin Fflur, making this series a must-watch for all fans.
