Winter wonderland or winter woes? π¨οΈβοΈ Snow continues to cause chaos across Wales with schools shutting their doors once again on Tuesday, 6th January! From snowy playgrounds to icy roads, safety concerns are keeping students and teachers at home this chilly week.

After a fresh blanket of snow welcomed everyone back from the Christmas break on Monday, several councils have declared that classrooms will stay empty on Tuesday due to lingering ice and snowy conditions. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice until 11am Tuesday, with even more wintry weather on the horizon. π¬οΈ

Numerous primary and secondary schools, especially in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Gwynedd, and Anglesey, have decided it’s just too risky to open up, with some shutting due to heating issues and others facing travel disruptions. ββ
In Carmarthenshire, for instance, Ysgol Bryn Castell is taking the day off due to heating problems along with other schools grappling with hazardous icy conditions. Meanwhile, the snowy spell isn’t sparing the Isle of Anglesey either, where schools in all local catchment areas are expected to remain closed, prioritising health and safety concerns over everything else.
But itβs not all doom and gloom everywhere! Several areas have reported no emergency closures yet, including Cardiff, Newport, and Torfaen. Fingers crossed they stay snow-free! π€
Keep an eye on official school closure pages and stay safe out there. Let’s hope the chilly spell doesn’t last too long and that schools are back to bustling hallways soon! Stay warm and cosy indoors if you can! π₯πΌπ
