🌊 Unbelievable Discovery at Rhos on Sea Beach! 🌊

Morning walkers at Rhos on Sea were greeted with a jaw-dropping surprise — a massive sand drop running almost the entire stretch of the newly-renovated beach! This spontaneous ‘mini cliff’ appeared overnight, making it look like a chunk of the sand was whisked away while everyone was asleep.

One visitor exclaimed, “Nature never ceases to amaze me,” echoing the sentiments of many who turned up to witness this bizarre natural phenomenon. The beach, revamped just three years ago with £14m pumped into it, had been raised by 16ft with a million tonnes of sand brought in from Liverpool Bay. Dubbed part of the “Welsh Riviera”, it’s become a beloved spot for locals and tourists alike.
But, fierce seas have made waves, literally, creating this ‘cliff edge’ on the shore. While some were quick to criticise the costly project, others feel the beach is doing its job perfectly. “It’s protecting the town just as planned,” said one resident, noting how the sand acts as a barrier, absorbing the ocean’s brunt.
Coastal engineers support this view, explaining that sandy beaches naturally shift and adapt, demonstrating their dynamic nature. They absorb wave energy, forming protective sand bars during storms and returning sand later to restore the beach.
Still, there are worries about long-shore drift potentially transporting sand away. Locals are suggesting that adding more groynes might be a solution to prevent sand migration towards nearby areas like Rhyl. Despite the concerns, council officials assert that the changing sands aren’t a cause for alarm and that everything is operating just as designed.
As unusual as it might seem, this is just nature doing its thing! 🌧️⛱️ Keep an eye on Rhos on Sea – it’s a constantly changing landscape!
