But this past Saturday, it bid farewell for now.

Owner Rob Burnett, who took over in 2015, previously warned the pub might face closure due to rising costs and shifting trends, like more people going sober. Though a door charge was considered to keep it afloat, attracting a younger crowd has been tough.

Hope isn’t lost, though! While the current management has stepped down, the search for new owners is ongoing. Fingers crossed for a glorious return! 🤞

Rob Keetch, a staple at the pub in his drag persona, Dr Beverly Ballcrusher, shared heartfelt memories, saying he’s been part of marriages, funerals, and even lockdowns at the venue. As he put it, “If you’ve enjoyed your time with me here, then thank you!”

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the curtains haven’t closed for the last time. The Golden Cross isn’t just a pub—it’s a community cornerstone. Share your fondest memories of this iconic spot below! ❤️🍺
