Starting today, residents across 24 Welsh postcodes will see a little extra in their bank accounts thanks to the Department for Work and Pensions’ Cold Weather Payments. These payments are here to help you stay warm as the frost bites.
If the temperature dips to 0°C or below, eligible households will automatically receive £25 for each week it stays freezing. With this week’s cold snap, more than half a million households across nearly 250 postcodes are set to benefit. That’s over £13.3 million being distributed to help keep you cosy. 🏠💷
The scheme runs every year from November to March throughout the UK, ensuring support for those most affected by the cold. And it’s not just cold temperatures we’re facing! A yellow snow warning is in place from 6 pm Thursday to 12 pm Friday, with up to 20cm of snow possible in parts of Wales. 🌨️
