🚗🚫 **Driving in Icy Conditions? Avoid This Button!** ❄️

With Storm Goretti hitting the UK with high winds and freezing temperatures, driving conditions are getting tricky. 🚨 The Met Office has even issued red warnings in some places. Now’s the time to brush up on winter driving safety!
One top tip: **Don’t use cruise control on icy roads!** ⚠️ While it’s super handy during regular drives, in winter it can be risky. Instructors from Adams Driver Trainer highlight that using cruise control may prevent quick reactions if roads get slippery.

Cruise control keeps your speed steady without needing your foot on the pedal, but that’s not ideal when you need to make quick moves on icy paths. If your wheels lose grip, cruise control can cause unexpected surges, potentially leading to a skid. That’s a big no-no during winter!
Meanwhile, Ron Wilson from the Alberta Motor Association agrees: “Avoid using it on wet or icy roads… it can send your vehicle into a skid faster than you realise.”
And there’s more! Rooster Car Insurance experts recommend: if you start skidding, ease off the gas and avoid slamming the brakes to keep control.
Stay safe and keep that cruise control off until the roads clear up! 🛑
🌨️ Stay updated as yellow and amber snow warnings are also in effect for parts of Wales. Snow’s expected to continue overnight, especially in areas above 200 metres.
Stay warm, stay safe, and drive carefully out there! 🚘✨
