A brave survivor is speaking out to warn others about a dangerous predator. Lynne-Marie Hand, who courageously waived her right to anonymity, suffered horrific abuse at the hands of Mark McMillan, a bodybuilder from Ayrshire, Scotland. McMillan has been found guilty of sexually assaulting three women he was in relationships with, leaving them with physical and emotional scars.

Lynne-Marie met McMillan in January 2023, initially taking pity on his hard-luck tale. But soon after, her life turned into a nightmare. Regularly subjected to physical and sexual violence, she feared for her life as McMillan, in drug-fuelled rages, would attack her, leaving her black and blue.

“I lost a lot of weight and lived in constant fear,” said Lynne-Marie. “No jail sentence will be long enough for what he put us through.” Her ordeal only ended in July 2023, thanks to the intervention of police and the support from Women’s Aid. After gathering her courage, Lynne-Marie kicked McMillan out for good and discovered messages linking him to other victims, prompting them to come forward to the police.

Now remanded in prison and awaiting sentencing, McMillan’s case highlights the dangers of domestic abuse. Lynne-Marie’s brave testimony aims to remind everyone of the signs of abuse and the importance of seeking help.
Sharing her story, she urges others to be vigilant: “He is a monster. People need to know what he did to us, and if he ever gets out, I want others to be safe.”
Let’s stand with Lynne-Marie and all survivors by ensuring we share their experiences, spread awareness, and support efforts to keep individuals like McMillan off the streets.
