🚨 Tragic News from the French Alps 🚨
A British skier in his 50s has sadly lost his life after an avalanche hit while he was skiing off-piste in the La Plagne resort, located in south-eastern France. The avalanche struck on what seemed like an ordinary Sunday afternoon, causing a wave of shock and sorrow.
Rescue teams, including around 52 dedicated individuals, medical personnel, ski instructors, and a specially trained dog team, swiftly descended upon the scene. Despite their rapid response, they found the skier under 2.5 metres of snow after an exhaustive 50-minute search.
The skier, part of a group, unfortunately didn’t have an avalanche transceiver and was not skiing with a professional instructor, according to the resort’s statement. These circumstances served as a stark reminder of the risks involved in this adventurous pursuit.
La Plagne resort has extended its deepest condolences to the family and friends affected by this heart-wrenching incident.
Our hearts go out to those who knew him during this unimaginably difficult time. Stay safe out there, everyone, and always remember the importance of safety measures when enjoying winter sports. ❄️🏔️
