Heartbreaking news from Doncaster, where a family experienced an unimaginable tragedy on Christmas Day. Little Isobel Abigail Maxwell, just two years old, tragically drowned after wandering into a pond at the family home. Despite her family’s immediate CPR efforts and emergency services rushing her to Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Isobel couldn’t be saved and was pronounced dead that evening.

An inquest at Doncaster Coroner’s Court has opened and will continue in September. Isobel’s family is filled with gratitude for the overwhelming support from their community. Her mum, Tamara Wallace, expressed her thanks on social media for the contributions to an online fundraiser aimed at building a fairy garden in Isobel’s memory. “Everyone who knew Isobel knows how spirited she was. We’re holding each other close and finding comfort in all the love,” Tamara shared.

Isobel’s aunt, Abigail Maxwell, explained the devastating incident: Isobel had been playing indoors and slipped away unnoticed, managing to get through a temporary fence around the pond. The pond was only there due to ongoing renovations at their new home.
The family’s world has been turned upside down. Abigail reflects on Isobel’s joyful, albeit short life, and the immense love that surrounded her. This Christmas Day accident is a painful reminder of how quickly life can change. Let’s hold Isobel’s family in our thoughts and cherish the memories of this bright, adventurous little girl. 🕊️💔
