In one instance, a tricky red ball hugged the cushion just a bit too snugly before dropping into the pocket—a clear sign, according to Davis, that the table wasn’t level. He suggested the table fitters might need to give it a good look-over, suspecting the top slate is off balance, making the game easier than it should be.
The issue resurfaced in the third frame when Yize executed another jaw-dropping shot with such ease. Davis couldn’t help but warn, “If those balls hug the top rail, it might make the game too easy and that’s just wrong!”
