🌿🐶 Naturalist and TV host Chris Packham is making a big change in 2026! Known for his love of animals and the environment, Chris is transitioning his beloved poodles, Sid and Nancy, to a vegan diet. While he’s been vegan since 2019, he’s now extending this lifestyle choice to his furry friends.

Did you know that pets consume 20% of the world’s meat and that dog food contributes to 1% of the UK’s greenhouse gases? Chris hopes this switch will reduce their carbon pawprint. 🐾 He’s planned a 90-day trial to see how they fare on a fully plant-based diet, which includes wet and dry food, treats, and supplements all packed with nutrients.

Chris explains, “Dogs are omnivores, just like us, which means they can thrive on plant-based foods. Studies back this up, showing these diets offer the same nutrients as meat-based ones. As we kick off Veganuary, I’m ensuring Sid and Nancy’s health is top-of-mind while keeping an eye on their energy, behaviour, and anxiety levels.”

Guided by vet Dr. Guy Sandelosky, co-founder of the vegan pet food brand Omni, Chris’s poodles are in good hands. Omni mixes proteins from sources like yeasts and pulses with veggies to craft nutritionally complete dog meals.
Deborah Meaden, an investor in Omni, chimes in: “When my dogs loved Omni, I knew it had potential. Over 13 million UK dog owners could follow Chris’s lead, and that would be huge for our planet!”
