Meet Zac Howells, the 12-year-old from Ebbw Vale who proved to be a true hero! Last December, as he and his mum Nicola were heading to Birmingham’s Christmas market, Nicola fainted behind the wheel. In a daring move, Zac took charge, steering the car safely into the central reservation and calling emergency services with poise and precision.
His quick-thinking actions not only kept them safe but also protected other road users. What a legend! Nicola will forever be grateful she chose to bring Zac along that day instead of her friend.
Recently, Zac was honoured with a Chief Constable’s Commendation at West Mercia Police headquarters. During their visit, Zac and Nicola had the chance to meet the call handler who guided him during the incident, along with some of the attending officers and even some off-duty police dogs – a truly unforgettable experience!
Chief Constable Richard Cooper praised Zac for his incredible bravery and mature response during what must have been a terrifying moment. Handling such a situation with calm and maturity is beyond impressive. Zac truly deserves this accolade and our admiration.
Please join us in applauding this brave young lad for his courage and quick thinking! 🙌 #HeroInTheMaking #BraveryAwards #IncredibleKids
