Meet Michelle Griggs, a mum from Kent who thought she knew what was going on with her health. With night sweats, aching joints, and unusual bleeding, Michelle assumed it was just menopause. Michelle, 50, who manages a social club, became concerned as her symptoms worsened. Thankfully, she decided to see her GP and was hit with a shock diagnosis—cervical cancer. “I assumed it was menopause because it all matched up with what I’d read online,” Michelle confessed. Despite being initially dazed by the news, she’s incredibly thankful it was caught at stage one.

The road to recovery was tough. Michelle underwent a rigorous treatment plan involving chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and brachytherapy, all while relying on a support network of friends and family for transport and emotional strength.

Despite everything, Michelle continued working when possible, finding solace and distraction in her job. “I needed something to keep me busy,” she said, emphasising the importance of a positive mindset.

Come September, Michelle celebrated being given the all-clear, though regular check-ups are now a part of her routine. She applauds her medical team, especially the Macmillan nurses, for their incredible support and guidance.

Now, Michelle is on a mission to raise awareness for Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Her message to others is clear: seek medical advice if anything feels off and don’t hesitate to ask for help.

Michelle’s story is a powerful reminder that our bodies often try to warn us. Let’s all take a moment to listen, support each other, and prioritise our health. 💪 #CervicalCancerAwareness #HealthJourney #SupportSystem #TakeAction
