We’re saying goodbye to the beloved Moody Sow farm shop, nestled just outside Cardiff. Owner Rhys Edwards has had to make the gut-wrenching decision to close its doors on January 25th due to unbearable trading conditions. Rising taxes, steep employer National Insurance contributions, and sky-high inflation have made it impossible to keep the shop running sustainably.

Rhys shared, “If I don’t make this difficult choice, I’d lose not just the business but my home as well. It’s been incredibly hard letting down our team and my own family. The flood, the pandemic, and now the financial hurdles have pushed us to this point, despite staying as strong and positive as possible.”

It’s a tough time for many, with government mismanagement affecting small businesses across the board. Food inflation and increased wage taxes have taken a serious toll. Rhys reflects, “At the moment, we lose money every day we open. It’s a hard decision, but we simply have no choice.”

For the past 15 years, Rhys and his family have poured their hearts into the farm shop. Now, more than ever, they’re urging everyone to support their beloved farm park. “Get the kids out and about! Support local businesses when it’s raining, sunny, whenever you can. If you don’t use us, you lose us—simple as that.”

Let’s rally together and support Cefn Mably Farm Park to ensure it remains a cherished part of our community. 🙌💚
