π Say goodbye to the unpleasant pong at one of Wales’s busiest walking spots! The Eryri National Park Authority is gearing up for an eco-friendly revamp of the smelly toilet facilities near the Snowdon Ranger hostel. πΆββοΈποΈ

No more hot, humid horrors with the current portaloos β which lack running water and require frequent clean-ups. Instead, two innovative “zero discharge” composting toilets are set to take their place. β»οΈπ½ These eco-loos need minimal water and rely on natural processes, translating to fewer maintenance trips and slashing the site’s carbon footprint. π±

No chemicals needed β just nature doing its thing! With claims of only needing to be emptied three times a year, weβre talking about sparing the environment from at least 100 additional journeys annually. π The new facilities will feature a clever level warning system to avoid overflow, though ENPA is backing up with laser precision checks to ensure everything flows smoothly. π
Nestled by the A4085 north of Beddgelert, the car park is a gateway to the stunning Llyn Cwellyn and Snowdon Ranger Station but doesnβt worry about an uptick in visitors with better loos; no plans are in place to expand parking π π
It’s all about sustainability and serving hikers better while preserving the beauty of the area. As ENPA seeks approval, itβs clear one thing: fresher and greener solutions are on the horizon! πΏβοΈ
