Passengers ready to jet off to Alicante found themselves stuck in a stairwell, waiting for at least 40 minutes, while their plane took off without them.
After having their documents checked and their seats confirmed, the travellers patiently awaited further instructions, only to be left behind. An attempt to board turned into disbelief as they discovered they had missed their flight due to an ‘error in stairwell directions’. 😱
Matt, one of the affected passengers, shared his baffling experience: “We were just waiting to be directed to the plane. Instead, we were like caged animals, wondering why the doors weren’t opening. It’s like an episode of Fawlty Towers.”
Jet2 has owned up to the hiccup, admitting it was a major oversight, and have since provided guidance for the affected passengers, ensuring they flew out later that day. The airline also apologised, with a spokesperson stating that they are treating this as a ‘matter of urgency’.
Matt also revealed that each of the stranded passengers was given a £10 voucher while they waited for their new flight. “It was a bizarre experience,” he said. “You’d think someone would notice an entire group missing. My son, who struggles with anxiety, was upset by the whole ordeal.”
