Representing Wales in style, Narrative from Rhayader, Mec Coffee in Cardiff, and The Life of Reilly Coffee in Penarth have clinched their spots among the top 44 in the UK and now have their eyes set on an even bigger prize – The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops, which will be decided in the fantastic city of Madrid on February 16.
Chosen from a pool that originally featured eight Welsh entries, these fantastic spots have wowed a panel of experts and coffee connoisseurs alike, showcasing quality coffee, top-notch barista skills, and delightful atmospheres. Their unique offerings and innovation have not only captured local hearts but have also competed against 93 other top brewhouses from across the UK to earn their place on the list.
Sam Lunn from Narrative Coffee shared his excitement, calling this achievement “a fantastic result for Welsh independent coffee culture.” With over a decade of experience in Specialty Coffee Association-style coffee, Sam is thrilled to take on the world stage next month.
Each coffee spot brings its own flavour to the list. At Mec Coffee, speciality coffee meets live music on Crwys Road. The Life of Reilly Coffee serves up delightful brews from a charming railway station hatch in Penarth, keeping commuters happily fuelled.
