A shocking trial has gripped the community as a stepfather is accused of a horrific crime against his girlfriend’s baby. In Swansea Crown Court, Thomas Morgan is standing trial for the alleged murder of 5-month-old Jensen-Lee Dougal, accused of violently shaking the infant “whilst angry and in temper.” The court heard that the incident happened at the family home in Clydach, Swansea Valley, back in March 2024.

Prosecutors argue that Morgan, 29, inflicted catastrophic brain injuries on Jensen-Lee during a moment of rage, ultimately leading to the baby’s tragic death. Despite being rushed to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, little Jensen-Lee could not be saved and passed away in his mother’s arms the following day.

Morgan has pleaded not guilty, claiming he found Jensen-Lee choking and unresponsive after a feed, and that his attempts to revive the infant involved shaking him. He denies both murder and charges of grievous bodily harm linked to previous unexplained injuries found on the baby.
During the trial, CCTV footage of Jensen-Lee from March 29, the day before the incident, was shown. Clips depicted the baby with his grandmother at a local clubhouse, appearing lively and responsive. The following day, Jensen-Lee was captured again on CCTV, active and engaged, before being taken home by Morgan after buying snacks and beer.
The courtroom also heard from Jensen-Lee’s mother, Jordan Dougal, who gave evidence via videolink, describing her last interactions with her son. The trial continues as the jury examines the details surrounding this heartbreaking case, seeking justice for a life tragically cut short. Stay tuned for more updates as this emotional trial unfolds.
