🚖 Unsolved Mystery: Fresh Appeal in 47-Year-Old Murder Case 🚖

South Wales Police have renewed their call for information on the chilling unsolved murder of Cardiff taxi driver John “Jack” Armstrong. This cold case, dating back to October 1979, remains a haunting mystery.

Jack, a family man and dedicated taxi driver, was last heard from when he radioed for a fare from a pub in Fairwater. Later that day, his blood-stained taxi was discovered in Bridgend, but Jack was tragically found three days later on Cowbridge Common, with severe head injuries.

Despite the massive investigation that followed, the killer has evaded justice for nearly half a century. But determination burns bright to solve this case. The South Wales Police’s Specialist Crime Review Unit is actively re-examining evidence and following new leads, keeping the hope alive that justice will be served.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Davies said: “We remain as committed as ever to bringing justice for Jack and his family.” Jack’s daughter, Jean, who held onto hope for answers through the years, tragically passed away recently without seeing her father’s killer caught.
It’s been 47 years, and if you have even the smallest piece of information, now is the time to speak up. DCI Davies urges anyone who might know something to come forward and make things right.
If you have any information that could assist this investigation, please contact the Review Unit via 101 quoting the occurrence number 2000304349 or use the Major Incident Public Portal. Together, let’s help bring the truth to light. 🔍
