💥 Attention 1950s-born women! 🎉 You might be owed up to £2,950! The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has set a decision date regarding possible compensation for the way pension age changes were communicated. 🗓️

Campaigners from the Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi) group are rallying hard, having already gathered backing from 100 MPs. They’re pushing for an update from the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Pat McFadden, by 2nd March. 📢

So, what’s the buzz about? In November, Mr. McFadden agreed to reassess a former decision not to compensate women affected by these changes. This came after an old report unveiled that the DWP had halted sending automatic pension forecast letters in 2007. 📄

However, there’s no promise yet that this review will lead to compensation. The campaigners are determined, though, with the letter set to fly out to officials soon. ✉️
Angela Madden, chair of Waspi, insists, “It’s high time that ministers stopped stalling and started compensating Waspi women.” 💪 And she’s not alone! Liberal Democrat spokesperson Steve Darling added, “The Government can’t keep kicking this injustice into the long grass. Waspi women did everything right!” 🙌
The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) has previously indicated that financial compensation between £1,000 and £2,950 could be suitable. Still, no guarantees are on the table yet! 😮
In December 2024, the government apologised for the delay but questioned a blanket compensation scheme due to its potentially massive cost of £10.5 billion. 💷
Stay tuned for more updates as we await the DWP’s decision within three months. Will the government heed the call for justice? ⏳
