In a heart-wrenching testimony at the Swansea Crown Court, a neighbour broke down as she recounted the harrowing incident involving the death of baby Jensen-Lee Dougal. The tragic event unfolded when Thomas Morgan, 29, allegedly shook the five-month-old with such force that it resulted in catastrophic brain injuries. Morgan, who was in a relationship with the baby’s mother at the time, denies the charges of murder and grievous bodily harm.

On the third day of the trial, neighbour Haley Evans described the desperate moment Morgan emerged from his home, cradling an unresponsive Jensen-Lee, pleading for help. Evans, trained in first aid, quickly took the baby and attempted CPR, noting that the baby didn’t appear to be choking as Morgan had claimed. Despite her efforts, and the arrival of further assistance from neighbours and paramedics, the little boy could not be revived.

Jurors also heard emotional testimony from Jensen-Lee’s mother, who made the agonising decision to turn off his life support after being told he would never breathe on his own again. She remembered her son as a “happy baby” and made the heart-breaking choice not to have him live attached to machines.

Thomas Morgan, from Gorseinon, maintains his innocence, arguing that Jensen-Lee had been in the care of others in the lead-up to the incident and that he tried to awaken the baby after finding him unresponsive. The trial continues, with emotions running high as more witnesses take the stand to shed light on the tragic final moments of baby Jensen-Lee. This unfolding case continues to shock and sadden the community.
