🚜🚧 Big News from Swansea: The Sinkhole Saga Continues! 🚧🚜

Dramatic aerial shots have revealed the massive scale of excavation underway to fix the notorious sinkhole in Swansea that’s been causing chaos for over two years! The demolition of the cherished Cwmfelin Social Club is complete, paving the way for essential repairs.

It all kicked off back in August 2023 when the ground near the social club collapsed, creating a real mess. A collapsed culvert buried 10 metres deep caused major havoc, damaging the main sewer line and leading to makeshift sewer systems snaking along Carmarthen Road.
Welsh Water and their team are hard at work on the third phase of this mammoth project—the big dig. A 10m excavation is underway so they can finally tackle that troublesome culvert. Fingers crossed that once the repairs are done, there’s hope for the club to be rebuilt, even if on a smaller scale.
The sinkhole has plagued the area, forcing dramatic rescues and leaving cars submerged. Traffic around Cwmbwrla roundabout and nearby roads have been hit hard, with businesses and homes suffering significant losses from repeated floods. Local barber Ribwar Wahab saw his shop submerged under two feet of water not long ago, causing quite the headache.
But there’s light at the end of the tunnel! The contractors are on-site, working tirelessly to resolve the situation and put an end to this long-running problem. Let’s hope that soon, the streets of Swansea will be free from floods, and life can return to normal for the local community.
