Hey parents! If your little one is turning three between 1st September 2025 and 31st August 2026, it’s time to snag that nursery spot for September 2026. Cardiff offers over 5,000 spots, with both English- and Welsh-medium options in 92 nursery classes across 89 schools. Plus, we’ve got a few dual-stream schools up for grabs!
🔔 Important: The deadline to apply is 23rd February 2026. Apply early to increase the chance of getting your preferred nursery!
Heads up: A nursery spot doesn’t automatically mean a spot in the same primary school, so be ready to apply separately later on. For community school spots, jump onto the council website to apply. If you’re keen on a faith-based school, remember to contact them directly.
Every child aged three to four has the right to a part-time nursery place from the term after their third birthday. Cardiff boasts 18 Welsh-medium classes, and don’t worry if you don’t speak Welsh at home—support is available, even for kids with additional languages.
