In a chilling turn of events, ex-soldier Gareth Nicholas has been sentenced to 20 weeks behind bars for stalking a police officer who had previously arrested him. Driven by a vendetta, Nicholas tracked down the officer’s former home address and sent unsettling communications, including a Facebook message and a handwritten letter filled with accusations of corruption.

The drama unfolded as Nicholas contacted the officer on social media, accusing him of unlawful actions during an arrest in 2023. The shocking message ended with, “I will catch you down the Liberty, son. Look forward to it.” This left the officer, understandably, on edge.

Concerned for his family’s safety, the officer had to beef up security around their home, installing CCTV and adding other security measures.

Appearing before Swansea Crown Court, Nicholas—representing himself—was described by the judge as having a “grievance” and being “fixated” on the criminal justice system. The judge acknowledged Nicholas’s military service but firmly told him, “don’t do this again.”

Given his guilty plea, his sentence was discounted by 20%, but with time already served, his release is reportedly imminent. Nicholas is now under a five-year restraining order, prohibiting any contact with the officer.
