🌧️ Storm Chandra slams into the UK, with a major incident declared due to severe flooding! 🌪️

Across Wales, stay alert with 17 flood alerts currently in place. As the rain keeps pouring, officials urge everyone to avoid travel if possible—let’s keep safety first!

Somerset is among the worst hit, facing “extensive flooding” overnight. Local authorities have declared a major incident, with the Somerset Levels and Moors particularly at risk. Properties in places like Ilminster and Taunton are already affected, and more rainwater is expected to sweep through.
Council leader Bill Revans emphasises the need for caution: “The forecast remains challenging. Please avoid travelling and never drive through floodwater—it’s simply not worth the risk.”
Down in Devon and over to Northern Ireland, the chaos continues with closed schools and road shutdowns, including key routes like the A30. Meanwhile, the fire and rescue teams have been busy saving people from vehicles trapped in floodwaters—thankfully, no casualties reported.
Travel disruption extends to the skies as well, with flights cancelled across major UK airports. 🌬️
With yellow weather warnings for ice in place on Wednesday and further rain predicted, the Met Office warns more flooding and travel hiccups could be on the way. Stay tuned and stay safe!
Wherever you are in the UK, it’s time to batten down the hatches and wait for clearer skies. 🌈 Keep updated, stay informed, and look out for one another!
