Tragic news has struck the football community as seven dedicated PAOK fans lost their lives in a devastating accident en route to a Europa League clash. The supporters were travelling in a minibus to see their team take on Olympique Lyonnais in France when their vehicle collided with an oncoming lorry on a highway in Romania. The heartbreaking incident, captured in a chilling social media video, occurred as the minibus attempted to overtake another car, inadvertently veering into the path of a large vehicle.

Despite the swift response from Romania’s fire service, which dispatched several emergency units to the scene, adverse weather conditions prevented air ambulances from reaching the crash site. The tragic loss of these fans has shocked many, with three more individuals sustaining injuries.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his deep sorrow, stating, “I extend my sincerest condolences to the families and the PAOK community. We hope for the swift recovery of those injured.” The Greek government, alongside its embassy, is actively working with local authorities to provide support and assistance during this difficult time.
This heart-wrenching incident serves as a reminder of the risks faced by those travelling long distances to support their beloved teams. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy. RIP to the fallen fans 💔
