🌳 Important News for Nature Lovers in Cardiff! 🌳
Heads up, folks! Fforest Fawr, the beloved woodland spot next to Castell Coch, is undergoing some major changes. Due to a pesky ash dieback disease, hundreds of trees, including larch, beech, and sweet chestnut, need to be felled for everyone’s safety.
🔒 What to Expect:
Starting 2nd February, the car park and five scenic trails, including the Sculpture Discovery Trail and the Taff Trail, will be shut for about four weeks. That means fewer woodland strolls and adventure walks till March!
🚧 Safety First:
The folks at Natural Resources Wales are pulling out the big gear to ensure everything’s done swiftly and securely. So, if you’re planning a visit, make sure to heed all safety signs and stay away from fenced-off areas. It’s all about keeping everyone safe from any unexpected falling branches!
🐿️ Why Now?
Besides the ash dieback, it’s also vital to complete this work by the end of February to reduce disturbance to protected species, like the adorable dormice.
