Early this morning, a lorry caught fire on the M4 near Bristol, leading to significant hold-ups. 🚛🔥 Traffic was brought to a standstill on the westbound stretch from junction 18 (Bath/Tormarton) to junction 19 (M32 Bristol) just after 5:30 am. Emergency crews from Yate, Bath, and Kingswood swiftly arrived on the scene, joining forces with National Highways Traffic Officers and Avon and Somerset Police to tackle the situation.
Drivers experienced delays lasting up to an hour, with queues stretching back four miles. While the section of the motorway between Bath and Bristol reopened around 8 am, two lanes remained off-limits to traffic for a while longer.
