Yesterday saw a dramatic scene in the Canton area as two cars collided right outside the popular Burger Boyz restaurant on Cowbridge Road East, turning the area into a hub for emergency services. This shocking incident caused significant disruption, with the road closed for hours and the restaurant having to shut its doors for the night.
As the chaos unfolded, emergency responders from South Wales Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and even the Wales Air Ambulance charity quickly arrived on the scene. Firefighters had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to safely extract a person from one of the cars. One individual was taken to hospital, and we all hope for their swift recovery.
Not only was there damage to the restaurant, but also to the nearby bus stop, making it a tough evening for both businesses and commuters. It was quite a spectacle with cars and buses left behind by drivers caught inside the police cordon.
