🚧 Pothole Problems in Cardiff: Residents Demand Action 🚧

Cardiff’s Station Road is causing quite the stir! Despite a fortune being spent—over ÂŁ20,000—on resurfacing efforts just a few years ago, the pesky potholes have made their unwelcome return. This issue is becoming the talk of the town, with locals dubbing them as a “feature” of everyday chatter.

After a harsh winter, the roads are suffering, and so are local businesses. From CafĂ© Artiste to Party Central Cardiff, everyone seems to have a pothole tale to tell. Residents like Saul from CafĂ© Artiste have noticed even more potholes this winter, turning them into a hot topic among customers. George from Party Central added that while he understands it’s a tough job for the council, the road situation has “100% gotten worse.”

Does this sound familiar? That’s because potholes are a common headache across Cardiff, with even major roads like Fairoak Road facing similar woes. Cardiff Council acknowledges the situation, with spokespersons citing bad weather and essential third-party works creating weaknesses in road surfaces. They’ve also noted a national ÂŁ12bn backlog of road repairs, but assure more permanent solutions are on the horizon.
Good news: Cardiff has been awarded a £10m boost from the Welsh Government for road resurfacing over the next two years. Until then, the council is focused on temporary fixes to keep roads safe. Let’s hope smoother rides are right around the corner! 🛣️
